Another factor in the Vietnam war which made winning impossible for the United States was the lack of skill that commanding officers had in conducting their operations. The United States needed soldiers and a lot of them for the war effort in Vietnam. In fact, over 2.7 million soldiers fought in the Vietnam War which meant a lot of officers had to command these troops. While many of these officers came out of great training and knew what it took in order to command a platoon of troops, there were some who couldn’t handle this leadership task during the Vietnam war effort.
