Humanities is the exploring, sharing, and recreating of expressions of the human

experience. What people have learned in today’s society is what they have all learned from the

past. They have learned a great deal from the Romans and Greeks. People learn from plays,

movies, books, sculptures, and all the fine arts of the past. Literature, philosophies, and social

societies are influencing through the humanities.

William Shakespeare influenced American literature with all of his screen writes’ and

plays that he wrote. William Shakespeare introduced 3100 words into the English language from

his first play Henry VI written in 1590 to his last play written Henry VIII wrote in 1612. He

Keaton, played by Robin Williams, went to teach English at an Ivy-league

academy. He was able to reach the boys about the real world, “the Idealism,” and not the ways

that they expected to follow. He taught them to break away from the mirror image and follow

their own dreams of real people in the world, just like the Romans.

Lastly, Rome culture also influences social society such as in some of modern day’s most

popular books, The Hunger Games. It symbolizes the “arena of life.” The Hunger Games are like

the Colossuem in Ancient Romans. The Colossuem was also a place where people, mainly

Christian martyrs, sent into a huge arena and forced to fight to the death. Animals, like lions, sent

in to finish off the tributes, also known as the victims. In The Hunger Games, the Capitol made

mutations and released them into the arena to make things more interesting, like in ancient

Rome. The Hunger Games a huge form of entertainment in the capital, just like in Rome.

Humanities influences the world in arts and culture. The stories they tell, the writing and

philosophy they learn, the architecture they see and build, and the religion they learn and
