Wind Erosion
Background Information
Wind occurs from heating and cooling Earth's surface which created different pressure and we feel the wind because of that. Wind occurs all over the world because weather patterns move. An example is when you deflate a balloon the air comes out and it makes that noise it's because the pressure inside the balloon is released into a lower air pressure. Wind usually happens during the spring and summer because there are greater temperature differences between the ocean and nearby land, particularly in the afternoon when the land is at maximum heating from the sun.
Weathering is the process that breaks down rocks. Forces like wind and water move the rock pieces, then they mix with matter like sand to become sediment.

Purpose The purpose of this lab is to demonstrate the relationship between particle sizes and distance moved by wind.

Hypothesis If the particle sizes increase than the distance will move and decrease because the wind can take smaller particles into larger distance and can't move rocks since they have a bigger mass.

Procedure

Label the start point where the soil and small particle materials are going to be and set the fan behind start point and set at normal speed.
Place the measuring tape on the side of the lab to measure the distance that the small particles travel.
Place soil and small particles at start point and set the fan at normal speed
Calculate the distance each particular traveled in (cm).
Repeat step 3 and 4 and gather data for trial
1and trial 2. 6. Place rocks at starting point and set fan at normal speed 7. Calculate the distance that rocks travel in (cm) 8. Repeat step 6 and 7 and gather data for trial 1 and trial 2
