When Ron Shaich founded Panera Bread did he intend to provide a fast food service with a fine dining feel held together by a healthy menu? From the free range chicken to the no msg recipes, Ron Shaich has made a home run with his concept of fast-casual food. And with competitors like Chipotle Mexican Grill and Buffalo Wild Wings I don’t think they are leaving anytime soon.

While McDonald’s and Wendy’s offer salads that fit the obsession of healthy eating. Realistically there is only so much that can be done with a salad. American wants taste without the addition of Trans fats, MSG, antibiotics and the preservatives so badly associated with fast food, and without eating like a rabbit. Panera Bread has found a way to provide this and it even has the nutritional calorie amount on the menu so you know when you order what your waistline is looking at. At the competition you are directed to their website to hunt down this information. While everyone was digging in to survive the economic recession, Panera Bread hit the frontline with their Care Café concept. Showing America it is not always about the profit line.
