The women in Goodfellas are very symptomatic of this world that we see the males living in. Due to they become very sheltered in their lifestyle. Not so much as they look for the reasoning that it is right in their minds, like the main protagonist at the start (film). More along the lines of they have lost touch with normal reality, and basic human morals. Such as when someone goes to jail, or they end up with a gunshot wound it is just something that happens. As long as it isn’t their husbands in the room, it becomes gossip for them. That they can discuss like it has no influence on their lives. Additionally it seems that they are very distant to their offspring. Where most mothers, during the erra was about raising a good family and being a part of their everyday lives. The women become objects throughout the film and it is also shown here, with the children through the conversation seeming to walk over them. Maybe this is to reinforce what happened at the start of the film. Where the actor was justifying why the mafia was a “good thing” (film). Also because of the actions of their husbands, they see violence as a way to get attention or appreciation from their husbands. As she does, it really hits her that she isn’t a part or cut out for this type of life. As it starts to lead into her downfall as a married wife to a mafia man. Her justifications on why she was married to him in the first place are solidified but at the same time she notices it just isn’t her. I connect Karen to Henry throughout the movie. She is more of the simple easy to read character that if you are having a hard time understanding Henry you can understand him through her. All of them including, the women in this clip are all just products, of the lives they live
