The role of women in the Renaissance didn't change much from any other time period thus far. Women were still considered their husbands property and expected to perform the household duties instead of working. Whether you were considered poor or rich, you still did household duties of some sort and worked under your husband if married. In this time period women were not allowed to necessarily work especially outside the home. However, their are a few exceptions to this.For example, Lavinia Fontana was one of the first women in the Renaissance to become a well known artist who specialized in portraits (The Metropolitan Museum of Art , 2015).
