The Battle of Verdun The Battle of Verdun happened in 1916.It was one of the largest battles of WW1. The war happened on the Western front between the German and French armies. It is also known as the greatest battle ever. Henri-Philippe Pétain was the French general at the time. He was later imprisoned. General Philippe Petain took over the French command of the Verdun sector.General Erich von Falkenhayn, chief of the general staff, was the Germans general and he aimed to bleed the French white. The soldiers during the war had it rough as well. There was heavy winds and rain which made it muddy.
Henri-Philippe was born 1856 and died around 1951.Henri was imprisoned during World War 1 for treason.He was a 58 year old colonel at the time 1914 which was the start of World War 1.Henri then stopped the Germans at the Battle of Verdun and held a series of top military posts in subsequent years.He then became the chief of state after

Some women joined the Navy or Marines and even became nurses while others were giving supplies out to Europe. Women also worked in munition factories. Women had to do a lot of work while their men were in the war.
During the war women had to get jobs because most of the men went to war. American military women have served stateside and overseas on the eastern and western war fronts. Over 230 bilingual civilian phone operators working with the Army were organized and trained by AT&T and took the same oath of allegiance as male soldiers.
The women that became nurses had to go overseas and help all of the injured people. They had to carry special medicines, vaccines, etc. to help people that had diseases and were sick. If someone would’ve got shot or whatever, the nurses would do what they had to do to get the bullet out and stitch them up and make sure that they’re ok. The nurses during the war were poorly paid and they still had to pay their bills back at
