The book Wonder, by R.J. Palacio is about a ten year old boy named August Pullman, who was born with a cranio-facial abnormality and has endured numerous surgeries. His whole life he has been homeschooled, but when he turned 10-years-old his parents began to further discuss sending him to a public middle school, so he can learn more than his mom can teach and grasp his social skills - meeting new friends -. They debate with August about attending Beecher Prep in Manhattan and at first he completely resists the thought, but his mom explains about the chicks in science ( baby birds ) and he is so excited, but still not convinced. August was originally going to be Boba Fett, but runs out of time and dresses as “ The Bleeding Scream “. Expecting a Boba Fett to walk through the door when the mystery person - Bleeding Scream - comes in and sits down, August overhears Jack bad-mouthing him and leads August to a stream of tears as he rushes to the bathroom. August threatens to never return to school, but his sister Via convinces him, and he returns. August ignores Jack and calls him his “ ex-friend “ leaving Jack confused. He soon discovers why he is mad and feels like a jerk! After the mean kid Julian continuously is antagonizing Jack, Jack punches him and knocks out a baby tooth.
