World War one also known as “The Great War” is one of the most deadliest wars in history. World War t lasted four years. It begun in 1914 and ending in 1918. There is much debate as to the exact cause of war. As this war was stirring up for years prior to the actually start. The world was in the midst of an arms race and imperialism was causing greed. The main event that pushed the war into beginning was the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This four year war involved over 29 countries leaving millions dead and tarnishing lands worldwide. World War I was divided into two sides the Allied Powers and the Central powers. When the war first broke out the Allied Powers consisted of Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan (The United States joined in 1917). The Central Powers consisted of Germany Austria-Hungary and The Ottoman Empire. On July, 28th, 1914 Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia and because of treaties made with other countries multiple countries were being forced to intervene. This small conflict between two countries ended up becoming one of the biggest wars ever known. The war officially ended in 1914 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The signing of this document is said to be the beginning of the Second World War as Germany took complete blame of World War 1 and was forced to pay for all damages associated with the war leaving the people of the country and the country itself poor and destroyed.
