World War 1 had many factors on how the war was actually started and continued. A main event that sparked the war was when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated alongside with his wife in June 1914. This made many political leaders angry and wanted vengeance. World War 1 had many factors but there were four tactics that contributed to the war. Militarism, Imperialism, nationalism, and the alliance system contributed to the fire of the war as well. Therefore we will explore these four contributing factors and understand what they are.
Militarism is the use of force, often in an effort to claim territory. When using this tactic it was usually with military force. With tensions raising between countries many used this tactic to increase and build up their military force. To build up their military force it put a strain on other countries as well to build up

Nationalism is a sense of belonging to a particular country. This tactic is used by putting another country’s interest over other countries. This gives a sense of pride and it cared more about one country than others. It gave leisure room for political leaders to use this to gain supporters or tear down other regions. Therefore, nationalism was used positively and negatively to either unify or be destructive.
The last tactic that contributed to the war is called the alliance system. Alliance system is when countries band together to form partnerships. These partnerships came in several forms which were economically, politically, or through military. Through the alliance system countries came together to form alliances and to balance power to make sure one country doesn’t dominate political affairs. It had mostly positives with accountability but also had a negative by it creating a two-sided structure in which countries were forced to pick a side.
