Causes of WWI

The growth of nationalism in Europe was an important cause of World War I, but equally important to the cause in my opinion was Imperialism. With nationalism the european countries felt their country and citizens were the best and they would challenge those who doubted that. With imperialism these same countries felt they were the most powerful and to prove it they would use diplomacy or military force to gain more land.

Imperialism is when stronger countries take over other areas and create colonies to gain financial and political power. This created competition among the countries. During the industrialization, countries like Great Britain and France created colonies in regions like Asia and Africa. Germany was left
