The Wounded Warrior Project

Sometimes you have to change your life for the better. However, sometimes it isn't easy to do so. You have most likely heard of a soldier who was wounded in combat. John Rego is one of these soldiers. John Rego was a soldier that was being deployed to Iraq at the time of his injury. He and a few of his fellow warriors were searching in a building and the building collapsed. John was crushed by a steel beam that fell on top of him. He had severe damage to his pelvis, his right arm, ribs, stomach, bladder, and his intestines. He was in a coma for about a week, and spent another two months in the hospital. They have impacted the lives of many families and wounded soldiers in the past 5 to 6 years. They started out as an organization that would provide comfort items to wounded service members, to a full blown network of programs and charities that does everything in their power to get wounded soldiers back to their civilian life (Source 1).
“The Greatest Casualty is Being Forgotten.” The Wounded Warrior Project truly has made an impact on so many lives in the past, and still does today. They are an organization that is a network of programs, charities, and fundraisers that empower and honor wounded soldiers. That is why their motto and their quote is “The Greatest Casualty is Being Forgotten” They do not want any soldier to feel like they have been abandoned or forgotten. They do everything they can to keep soldiers from feeling this way. “This was a great time. It was therapeutic to rebuild the camaraderie and teamwork that the typical outside world may not understand. For us, the teamwork and camaraderie was automatic.
