Many students take summer classes in order to graduate on time, or even early. If these students are unable to take classes over the summer, they may not graduate when they plan, if at all. Also, if a student fails a class, they would be unable to retake it over the summer, and would have to spend the whole next year retaking the class. In addition to students being unable to take summer classes, they will have more work during the year. Year-round school is also a bad idea because it would result in more work for both students and teachers. If school were to be year-round, it would make for more assignments for students, and more work for teachers to grade. If winter break is extended, teachers will assign homework or projects to do over break, as well as the shortened summer break. If summer break is shortened, teachers will have less time to prepare their teaching plan for the year, as well. Overall, year-round school is a bad idea because summer break will be shortened, students will be unable to take summer classes, and students and teachers will have more work. As a result of shortening summer break, school will be more difficult for both students and teachers. Summer is very important for students to cool down or take a break, as well as teachers planning for the upcoming school
