Throughout my placement experience at the Bob Hayward YMCA, there are many things that I have learned. An important thing that I have learned through my experience would be that having great communication skills goes a long way. Whether it be greeting a member when they first walk into the facility or communicating with other employees to get certain tasks done. Having excellent communication skills has been one of my weaknesses in my past, but I feel as though I have improved on it within my placement. Through my placement experience at the YMCA, I have been involved in tasks at the front desk. Therefore, I had to adapt to the new environment, learn their facilities pricing, schedules and general information. In addition, portray the information in a clear and concise way for the members to understand. Another task that I was involved in was wellness consultations. These wellness consultations are for the program called Y-Thrive which are premade programs for YMCA members. There are different streams in this program including begin, grow, boost, flex and balance. Members would have a consultation about their goals and what program would the best fit for them. At first, it was generally hard for myself to initiate small talk to members that I barely new and then ultimately discuss the programs available. For the Aqua-Fit classes that I taught, a class related to that experience was the Group Exercise class. I was to follow general format of Aqua-Fit classes and program exercises that members can do throughout the class. I would also co-teach Aqua-Fit classes. I definitely had to adapt very quickly to the various exercises that the YMCA
