The report was written in 2013, after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary school rampage shooting in Newtown, CT. The report explored the knowns and unknowns about youth violence. First and foremost the report aimed to distinguish violent behavior from aggressive behavior. In immersing into the article, aggression is defined as behavior intended to harm another person whereas violence leans toward physical harm. An example of aggressive behavior consists of spreading rumors about a peer and examples of violence are made up of: hitting, kicking, shooting, or stabbing a peer.
