“Executions Should Be Televised,” was written by Zachary Shemtob, a criminal justice professor, and David Lat, a former federal prosecutor. The authors argue that American executions should be televised to the public, since their tax dollars are being used to fund the executions. They suggest that the public should be able to witness executions with their own eyes so that they can formulate an opinion about the death penalty.
Shemtob and Lat begin their essay by letting the reader know that Georgia is having yet another execution that wouldn’t have been know about, if it wasn’t for a video recording of an inmate receiving the death penalty (1). The purpose of the recording was to learn more about the effects of the lethal injection and if
