It is more of a philosophy of life and rejects some characteristics of Hinduism such as the rigid caste system. The teachings that surround Buddhism advocate living a moral life, focusing on one’s own thoughts and actions, and the development of wisdom and understating in one’s own journey. In Phil Jackson’s novel Sacred Hoops, he narrates his own journey of coaching and how Zen Buddhism helped him become a better coach, person, and to find himself.
