Dream Catchers

Dream catchers used to be and still are one of the most charming traditions of Native Americans history they have. It’s a type of art they had in the past “The positive dreams would slip through the hole in the center of the dream catcher, and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below. The negative dreams would get caught up in the web, and expire when the first rays of the sun struck them.” The first dream catcher was mainly proposed to protect the sleeping person or child from negative or harmful dreams, and letting positive dreams through instead of the negatives, so they wouldn’t wake up in horror.

The dream catcher has been part of there traditions for a while. There are certain clans that don’t think that they’re to help dreams and that they just symbolize strength and unity. While the other clans think it to catch the back dreams and give a positive dream for every negative dream.

Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with dreams both good and bad. The dream catcher when hung over or near your bed swinging freely in the air, catches the dreams as they flow by. The good dreams know how to pass through the dream catcher, slipping through the outer holes and slide down the soft feathers so gently that many times the sleeper does not know that he/she is dreaming.
