Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to test whether, water or Gatorade is most effective when trying to maintain a lower heart rate after exercising. The hypothesis suggested that when testing this Gatorade would be the most effective drink when trying to maintain a lower heart rate after working out. To begin, supplies were gathered and put to use; a circular 8 oz. measuring cup, which is, 236.59mL, two 64 oz. bottles of Gatorade, 4 16 oz. bottles of water, a 16 oz. colored drinking cup, measuring tape, paper, pens, and a stopwatch. Also included were the three participants. Each participant had their heart rate taken, sprinted 460 feet, which is 140.21 meters, had their heart rate tested again, drink 8 oz. of Gatorade(236.59mL), and had their heart rate taken a third and final time. The, repeated the process, replacing the Gatorade with water to see which drink was most effective. The results showed that the Gatorade was the most effective drink when trying to maintain a lower heart rate after exercising. While on the other hand water did not really maintain a lower heart rate after exercising. In very one of the Gatorade parts the heart rate dropped 8 beats per a minute. When testing the water parts only one time did the heart rate drop. When it did drop it only dropped 4 beats per a
