Thinking back to Beowulf’s most courageous act was the fight between him and the dragon. Before this battle, Beowulf always had a army of loyal men at his side. However, these circumstances were different this time around. A beaten warrior. None of his comrades Came to him, helped him, his brave and noble Followers; they ran for their lives, fled Deep in a wood(….)(ll. 690-694). Ultimately, Beowulf sacrificed himself himself to save his people, but was abandoned by his own men. That’s the most courageous thing a human could do. Many examples of his confidence is shown throughout this poem My favorite is when the narrator says “Then Beowulf rose (….) Strode calmly, Confidently, toward the tower, under The rocky Cliffs; no coward could have walked there!”(ll. 633-636). This speaks volumes all on its on for Beowulf.
