According to www.humanesociety.org, there are approximately 70 million pet dogs and 74.1 million pet cats in the U.S. where 20 men and women are assaulted per minute ( an average around 10 million a year ). Jeremy Rifkin states in his article “A Change Of Heart about Animals” about having rights for animals and also arguing if animals really do have emotions and feelings. In my opinion, we should change the way we treat the animals around us because it is not right for us to be dominant towards our animals.

Rifkin states that “ They feel pain, suffer, and experience stress, affection, excitement and even love-- and these findings are changing how we view animals”. This quote is basically talking about how animals feel emotions just along

Sometimes animals can be nice one day and be mean or aggravated the next day. The reason for this is because of how you treat them. People in the world would be dominant over their pets because that is their property, even though a pet is someone's property, the owner should have care and support for the animal because in an animal's point of view, the animal would protect and love their owner to the fullest. Many different type of animals have a way of communication like for example: dogs will come up to you and try to get your attention by either tugging on your leg or making a sound. If the owner ignores this type of action then the animal would have the behavior of being sad, mad and aggravated.

These animals usually have a mind of their own, but in a way they know how to use their responsive skills and communication skills. Some animals do get treated poorly and the owner will not care for them. I ask myself “ why would you get a pet if your just going to treat it poorly and not care for it”? Many people in this world today would basically make an animal a value to their everyday life. The reason why I say this is because animals can be used for many different things like for example : food, protection, a friend,
