Should ACT and SAT scores be used as requirements that colleges use to choose students for college? Colleges should use these scores to choose their students and the following reasons will prove why. Colleges should use the ACT and SAT scores to choose students for college because the tests are reliable and objective measurements of student achievement, the tests set a standard for all students and the tests hold teachers and schools accountable teaching their students. Tests are reliable and objective measurements of student achievement. Student employers often look at the scores of students of the ACT and SAT as a determining factor in whether or not a student will be employed. The test scores are good measurements of how well a student can do in the very basics of school, how they prepare themselves for tough tests and how they handle stress. The tests puts expectations on students similar to what a student would experience in the work force and also in the college classroom. A standardized test is any form of a test that requires all test takers to answer the same questions in the same way, and is scored in a standard or consistent manner. This makes it possible to compare eh relative performance of individual students or groups of students. The ACT and SAT are representations of what a student should know and the critical thinking required on these tests are needed in to succeed in the college classroom. The tests prepare kids for what college is like and also how the real world is. Setting a standard for students gives students things they need to learn if they want to succeed in life and the ACT and SAT scores show colleges comparisons between students and gives them scores to choose students off
