The percent of children the age of four to seventeen years old taking Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medication increased from 4.8% in 2007 to 6.1% in 2011 (Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Currently, 5.4 million children (8.4%) are diagnosed with ADHD (Knopf). It was first recorded in 1902 by George Still. Benzedrine was approved as a medicine in 1936 by the US food and drug administration ("Benzedrine"). ADHD medication causes a side effect that causes mood swings called, Rebound. Rebound is another side effect of ADHD medication. Rebound is when the medication wears off in the brain because it leaves the body system too fast. Rebound side effects, again, consist of mood swings were someone getting angry and aggressive, usually at the same time everyday. In order to avoid this from happening, doctors should evaluate the dosage of the medication very carefully and see if the dosage is too high or too little. If Rebound continues to happen doctors may change the medication or try a different treatment. Sometimes people with rebound might have another underlying problem such as bipolar or anxiety so it is important to consult with your physician about medication you are using and communicate the differences you notice in your
