Life, something so great and wonderful that we all deal with on a day to day basis. Whether we choose to live it or not, life is something that is very precious. An unborn child should NOT have to suffer because of the mistakes of parents, and or other extenuating circumstances. In our society and how the culture is today, abortion is something that isn’t taken as seriously as it used to be. It is a topic that used to be very touchy feely but is now a regular thing. This could be a factor for many reasons. One being the huge spike in teen pregnancies. 50 years ago, if you were a teenager pregnant you were looked down upon and even sent to maternity homes, where you were to have your baby in secret. Today its the new trend and young girls often celebrating pregnancy in favor of getting popular, famous, etc. With pregnancy so high in adolescents, its mostly due to the fact that kids are having sex now at a younger age. Again, 50 years ago with a whole different culture at that time, most people waited on sex until they were married. Abortion goes along with sex, drugs, and alcohol, it’s more readily available today than it was 50 years ago. Since Roe vs Wade abortion is a surging but risky business.

The majority of females who get an abortion are under age adolescents. Most of them don’t understand that they have many more options than just an abortion to get rid of the child. There is no such thing as an unwanted child.

Another reason abortion should not be a option is due to the psychological lasting effects it has on the woman who has the procedure done. Again, most of the females having the procedure are underage young girls. They are not fully aware of what they are doing and many have lifelong regrets afterwards. A person’s brain is not fully developed until the age of 25. If I knew my 15 yr old self today, I know I would not even want to be friends with that person. Many of these girls aren’t mature enough to fully understand what they are doing to their bodies. According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK, they stated that “women should not be allowed to have an abortion until they are counselled on the possible risk to their mental health.” In California a study was done on the psychological risks involved after abortion and they found that women “are also significantly more likely to be treated in the four years the study followed for mental illness, including neurotic depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.” The study also found that suicide is a higher risk by 154%! The suicide risk is even higher for teen girls. “Teen girls are 10 times more likely to attempt suicide if they have had an abortion in the last six months than girls who
