Throughout the years, the comparison of what the president has or can achieve becomes often juxtaposed with past presidential actions. During the year of 1861, Abraham Lincoln ran for presidency and became the sixteenth president up until the end of his presidential role in the year 1865. Lincoln is commonly known as “honest Abe,” and so was known to never tell a lie. Since the day Abraham Lincoln became president, he was one “for the people” and was one to fight for the rights and liberties to those who faced segregation. Since Abraham Lincoln was able to take responsibility for the country, and manage to show his courage and integrity even when faced with hard-headed generals, it shows that he was a prodigious leader. Lincoln is described by these characteristics because he was able to care for people and persuade them to vote for him and get them to understand that he was humble and wanted the best for his people and desired nothing more than the good of his country to be restored. Even if times got rough for Lincoln, he managed to power through thanks to the people that he had been in acquaintance with when faced with having to make war efforts during the civil war and new laws and agreements such as the emancipation …show more content…
Concern is listed under Lincoln’s list of characteristics because he was always perceived as a compassionate and caring man. With these characteristics, Lincoln was an exceptional leader because he genuinely cared for the people, and not just for the gain of power that came along with becoming the sixteenth president. In fact, citizens believed him to be so grand, that he was even set to do a second presidential term which would mark an additional four years of his prior presidency. Furthermore, much of Abraham Lincoln’s achievements were graceful evidence of why he was considered to be such a great leader, and displayed many characteristics that show he was a great president. With the use of Lincoln’s characteristics behind the office, he was able to spread powerful movements that aided the additional laws that would support the rights of the people.
