The worldview of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth is Biblical. The portrayal of sin and humans’ dealing with it is the main theme of the play. A second Biblical concept that is prevalent throughout the play is the interaction between the supernatural powers and the world.

The concept of sin in Macbeth is shown as an interaction between the witches, forces of nature, and the human life’s that it affects. Evil causes a loss of closeness or fellowship with God. The results of this loss show up in many different forms throughout the play. For example, Lady Macbeth shows an alienation from herself at the end of the play, and ultimately commits suicide.
