Non-communicable diseases are diseases that are not infectious, and often progress over time. There are many of them out there. I chose to research Alzheimer’s disease for this assignment, because my grandma had it. She battled with it for years, unfortunately. I wanted to do this for my project so I could understand how it affects people.
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys the memory and the thinking process. It can get so bad that the affected might not be able to do very simple tasks. It mainly affects people 60 or older. The symptoms are different for everyone, but the mild stages include things like wandering or getting lost, repeating questions, losing things, or behavior changes.
