At the end of the French and Indian War, Britain emerged victorious against the French and their Native American allies which caused immense elation and pride for the American colonists. In less than two decades later, English patriotism came to a halt and American colonists, longing for independence, struggled to remain loyal to the mother country. The American colonists were, in many cases, justified in fleeing from Britain, such as unfair taxation, lack of freedom, and being treated as property.
