1. Quetzalcoatl was a god worshiped by inhabitants of Mexico and who was supposed to "come back" in human form to his followers. When Spaniards first came to the Americas this legend made some of the locals welcome the Spaniards with open arms at first because they thought that they were gods. This gave the Spaniards a span of time to get a good foothold in the New World.

Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro defeated the Inca easily because the Incans were already in their own civil war making them tired, and also suffering from the smallpox epidemic, both of which had weakened the Incan empire dramatically. As a result of this it made it easy for Pizzaro to take the last Incan Emperor and also take Atahuallpa prisoner and execute him. This paved the way for peace and complete conquest.

The evidence for significance of the Guadolupe portrait is actually Juen Diageos tunic, he had been told by Mary to go on top of a hill to pick some roses, in the middle of winter, and come back to show them to the Bishop. When Juan finally brought the roses to the Bishop he did not look at the roses but instead his tunic had an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary! ( describe significance in A.H)

Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was a Spanish explorer who led an expedition to the American Southwest from 1540 to 1542. He was searching for the legendary "Seven Cities of Cibola", it was believed that these cities were rich in gold and other treasures. He began his journey near what is now Gallup, New Mexico and sent expeditions out from there to explore to the west and east. Although they never found the "Seven Cities of Cibola" they explored parts of the Southwest, like the Rio Grande Valley in New Mexico, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and lands as far away as what is now Kansas.
