Uncle Tom’s Cabin is so much more than what you first anticipate. When you first pick up the book, or you’re tod to read it for a report, your initial thought is that it will just another book o slavery. However, due to the fact that Stowe, not only gave good argument points on slavery, she also incorporated a basic novels drama. Harriet Beecher Stowe found inspiration in the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which I found very interesting. The act states that assisting runaway slaves in free states was illegal. While it is a novel, it’s also basically a sermon. Stowe wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin with the weapon of Christian love to destroy the idea of slavery. Uncle Tom’s Cabin opens with Tom being traded from Mr. Shelby to Mr. Haley because of unpaid
