What they do: As a landscape architect they prepare site plans, specification, and cost estimates. They also prepare graphic representations of plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software.

Work Environment: The work environment is the architect spends much of their time in offers, creating plans and designs, preparing models and preliminary cost estimates, doing research, and workers involved in designing or planning a project. They spend the rest of their time at jobsites.

What they do: Cartographers and photogrammetrists collect, measure, and interpret geography information in order to create and update maps and charts for regional planning, education, and other purposes. Cartographers typically collect geographic data and photogrammetrists typically collect and analyze spatial data, such as elevation and distance.

Work Environment: They spend munch of their time in offices. They may travel to the physical locations that they are mapping to better understanding the topography of the region. Most work full time those who do fieldwork may have longer workdays.

How to Become One: A bachelor’s degree in cartography, geography, geomantics, surveying, or relater field is the most common path of entry into this occupation.

How to Become One: Graphic designers usually need a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. Candidates for graphic design positions should demonstrate their creative and originality through a professional portfolio that features their best designs.

Pay: The median annual wage for graphic designs was $47,640 in May 2016. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $27,650 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $82,020.
