In today’s society, the US suffers with multiple issue and one of them being the thoughts of whether the confederate monument/statue should stay up or be taken down. In many cases, some may find these monuments racist or bias to the African Americans culture while others may think it’s an honorable achievement of what we, as Americans, fought for what we believed was right back then history which was slavery. According to all of the articles that was giving for us students to read, these momentums should stay up rather than be taken down. This is because, as mentioned earlier, it can be an achievement of what we our founding fathers fought for. The monument should also stay up because it can bring unity in each community because at the end of the day, our heroes fought for what they believed was right . It doesn't matter what race, ethnicity, religion, and beliefs your are / have we shall not be diverse from one to another. And finally, these monuments, bring an educational purpose to our future young ones that would eventually join in our society. …show more content…
But they should remain written by Lawrence A. Kuznar (Professor of anthropology at Indiana University) has written an credible article stating that these monuments should stay up even though he may not like these monuments. In his article he mentions “ … destroying monuments takes a page out of the playbook of mobs across the centuries, lowering one’s self to that moral plane.” In other words, Kruznar summarizes, taking away the monuments would have a huge deficit to the american tradition. It’s a “leftover” of what our heros left for us so we can have a better understanding of what they have fought for and who they have fought to make our world superior. As mentioned earlier, these monuments can be viewed as achievements to our american tradition. Furtheron, these monuments can stand for an educational purpose.
