Look around right now. I’m sure there is at least one cell phone in sight. Cell phones are everywhere in our everyday life: school, walking down the street, shopping, and so on. On over a million of cell phones has snapchat downloaded on it (mediapix). Snapchat is a newer way of communication; It has its pro’s and con’s like every other form of communication.
Snapchat is an app which allows a person to take a picture or video with a caption option. After the user decides on the caption, then they can decide on how long and who gets to see it. Snapchat only allows so many characters to be typed on the picture of video. This is how American’s literacy practices go down the drain. Most people use this app as a way of communication. I believe that is completely wrong! Next, people will be getting pictures of the wedding ring being asked, “Willl you marry me?” You may laugh now but that is what our future looks like. Or worst is that people take exposed pictures because they think that it will go away after that ten seconds. In reality, people can take a screen shot, the upper management of snapchat can see your pictures, or there is even an app that saves the picture without the other person knowing. All of these many seem extreme to you but this happens every day in our life.
I think that snapchat is a very clever idea but people just use it in the wrong way. Sending a funny picture and putting, “I hope you have a great day!” is what snapchat is all about. Also, snapchat can be very convenient for when you want to send an actual picture to someone. By using snapchat, instead of an actual picture it is a lot faster. A snapchater can put a picture on their story for all of their friends to see. This helps keep in touch with people that you may not talk or see very often without
