A lot of people think that the legalization of Marijuana would be a good thing all around, but they're are some people who think that Marijuana should stay illegal because of the possible side effects it may cause. Beside the fact that Marijuana has a chance of becoming “addictive” and in some cases may causes “poor health”, there are many health benefits from the use of Marijuana ranging from helping cancer patients while going through chemotherapy to helping stop anxiety attacks. Money would be getting made by the taxation of pot, and many more jobs would be available, Also if Marijuana was legal, crime rates would go way down. “Marijuana is said to have short-term physical effects such as the “munchies”, raised heart rate, bloodshot eyes and dry mouth.” (ABBONDANZA) Unfortunately there can be long-term effects from smoking pot too, “studies have shown that people who started at a young age tend to have a shrunken frontal lobe, this is the decision making part of the brain.” (ABBONDANZA) “That part of the brain is still developing in the teen years, which means the users missed out on valuable growth and the ability to make sharp decisions later in life.” (ABBONDANZA) Marijuana can affect different people in different ways, some have said that they have had hallucinations after smoking, and some say they felt very paranoid… but when looking at all the pros from the plant, you could say that they overcome the cons. …show more content…
“You could be a recommending physician, they determine if cannabis is the right choice for the patients suffering from cancer, HIV, depression, anxiety and other ailments.” (COX) There are many different jobs in this industry, not just selling it. Or you can go with something a little more simple such as a “Budtender who helps people navigate through all the different kinds of buds, edibles and tinctures that are sold.” (COX) One of the obvious jobs would be a Grower, without a grower there would be no cannabis industry. “Many of today's growers are college graduates in horticulture or they have years of growing experience.” (COX) Most people who work with Cannabis, are very educated people. “In Montana, one study conducted by cannabis advocacy groups reported 1,400 new jobs had been created and 70% of the workers were previously unemployed.” (COX) The unemployment rate would go down. Currently, all money made off of Marijuana is going into the hands of the black market, when it could be going to the government instead. “Oregon alone is expected to make $43 million dollars in tax revenue from recreational marijuana this year.”
