“Beasts of the Southern Wild,” a movie adaptation of the play Juicy and Delicious by Lucy Alibar, and Juicy and Delicious, both incorporate the main character Hushpuppy who struggles with coming to terms with her father's inevitable death. In the play, however, Hushpuppy is illustrated as a meek little boy who isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. The play takes advantage of these disadvantages and incorporates Miss Bathsheba as one of the entities who teach Hushpuppy the most important life lessons he needs to know.
