Religion plays a huge role in the world today. It has influenced many types of people since humanity began. People like Billy Graham are a big reason for religion being so huge in today’s world. Billy Graham, a religious icon, acquired fame over the years and created a legacy for himself by influencing the spiritual masses as he spread the word of God throughout the world. Billy Graham was born on November 7, 1918 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to parents William and Morrow Graham. Graham was the first of four children raised on the family’s dairy farm in Charlotte. At the age of sixteen, Graham attended a series of revival meetings led by evangelist Mordecai Ham. He then decided he was called to be a pastor (Biography.Com Editors 1). Graham’s integrity has encouraged millions of Americans to heed his spiritual guidance, people like Martin Luther King, Jr., Bono, Muhammad Ali, and United States presidents from Eisenhower to Bush (Biography.Com Editors 1). In 1992, Graham announced that he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a disease similar to Parkinson’s disease. Billy and his wife eventually retired to their home in Montreat, North Carolina, in 2005. Graham turned ninety in 2008. In 2007, Ruth Graham passed away from pneumonia and degenerative osteoarthritis. She is remembered by her husband, five children, and nineteen grandchildren (Biography.Com Editors 1). In conclusion, Billy Graham has influenced this world in a ton of ways. His life goal has always been to spread the word of Jesus Christ and reach as many people as he can. He changed the way of spreading God’s word.
