In Brian Doyle’s essay “Joyas Voladoras” he describes how the heart becomes fragile overtime and no matter how hard we try to avoid it, every heart is impacted by the struggles of this life including a heart that eventually expires.
He starts by describing various hummingbirds and tells about the challenge it is just for the hummingbird to exist. He explains that not only do they have to stay diligent everyday to keep themselves alive but that risking a moment of rest could ultimately welcome death for them, much like with humans.
