The burqa, an outer garment worn by women in some Islamic traditions, has been banned in France and Belgium since 2011. The primary argument supporting this motion is that burqas impede the clear identification of a person, developing security risks. Although these two countries are concerned about these risks, many Islamic women avoid these mandates, and wear a burqa anyway. I do not think the burqa should be banned because it interferes with individual freedoms and hinders women to express themselves as they see fit.
