The Canterbury Tales is a story about a group of pilgrims who agree to a storytelling contest in order to pass time on their journey to Saint Thomas Becket's Shrine in Canterbury. The Canterbury Tales reflects some characteristics of the Middle Ages era by showing the division of classes. In the middle ages, there was a feudal system which is the division of people. The group of pilgrims in The Canterbury Tales where divided based upon their class, similiar to the feudal system in the Middle Ages. In the Canterbury Tales, the author, Chaucer, highlights certain pilgrims', for example the Clerk who believed in God and was committed to church teachings, which is similiar to the Church's power and strength during the Middle Ages.
