Testing Shows Promising Results from New Weight Loss Pill
By: Kelli Kinder

According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, more than sixty-six percent of Americans adults are overweight or obese. This shocking statistic is evidence of the alarming obesity problem steadily growing in the United States. To avoid exercise and a healthy, balanced diet, many overweight adults turn to weight loss supplements as a convenient solution to help them shed pounds.

The control tube contained a buffer and amylase and the experimental tube contained the carb cutter, buffer, and amylase. We added Carb Cutter to the tube and waited fifteen minutes until adding the starch in order to replicate taking Carb Cutter in real life, which must be taken before eating. After we added starch to both the control and experimental tubes, we took four samples from each tube at 0, 30, 60, and 90 seconds and put those samples into tubes with iodine in them, which would stop the amylase activity of starch. We then measured the absorption of those tubes in a spectrophotometer to find out how much starch each tube contained.
The results from this study showed that the control tubes decreased in absorption, with the exception of the sample taken at 60 seconds, at each time interval. For the experimental tubes containing the Carb Cutter, the results showed that the absorption values of the tubes

A month long study done on overweight men and women found that the group assigned to take a starch blocker supplement lost a noticeably larger amount of weight than the participants of the control group (Melinda Manore). The group who took the supplement lost 2.4 kg of fat compared to the mere 0.16 kg of fat that the group not taking the supplement lost (Manore). This study supports my conclusion that Carb Cutter seems to be able to block amylase from breaking down starch. Because there are so many overweight people eager to take diet supplements, it was important to do this study in order to find out if this product can truly help these people, or if their claim is an empty
