For this assignment, I chose to read and study “A Distinctly Human Quest: The Demise of Vitalism and the Search for Life’s Origins.” Stanley Miller and his professor Harold Urey believed that some basic chemicals were on the earth before life had even begun. Those chemicals were methane, water, hydrogen, and ammonia. Scientists Alexander Oparin and J.B.S Haldane had already proposed this idea, but were unable to properly test it.
