From the information provided in the case, I strongly believe that Target Canada did not demonstrate good planning in regards to its expansion into Canada. To support my verdict there are a few actions that took place, which resulted in Target Canada’s failed development into Canada. The U.S franchise first started out their plan to expand by buying over Zellers Inc. from the Hudson Bay’s Company which consisted of 220 stores around Canada (pg. 189). Out of the 220 stores bought over, 124 stores were opened across Canada within the year of 2013.
