To begin, two characters that experience a change in identity in the novel The Lightning Thief is Annabeth and Grover. Annabeth is 12 year old girl, demigod, and the daughter of Athena. Grover is half man-half goat and was a protector for Percy Jackson. Annabeth is lonely and Grover is concerned for Percy Jackson. The quest changing them is unthinkable. Annabeth and Grover went on to the quest with Percy. They both are very brave, strong, and proud. In The Lightning Thief, both Annabeth and Grover experienced changes in identity.

In the beginning of the novel, Annabeth helped Percy heal. Annabeth showed Percy around Camp Half-Blood. She was lonely and felt that she wanted to work alone. She was so demanding to her team in capture the flag
