There are two types of growth mindsets. A fixed mindset is showing a person not willing to do it or not showing effort. A growth mindset shows a person who is willing to try, having positive thoughts, and not being able to give up. In Flipped by Wendlin Van Draanen, the character Juli has a growth mindset. In Flipped, Juli shows she has a growth mindset. After Bryce said hurtful stuff to Juli about her family’s yard being a mess and after she found out her yard was kept like that because her family does not own the house, she decided to clean it herself. In the text she said, “In the morning as I rode my rusty bike I promised myself I would attack the yard.”(pg. 105) This shows that she won’t give up and let her family’s yard be a mess.
