Charles Pinckney was one of the youngest delegates. Pinckney was born in South Carolina, on October 23, 1757. Charles Pinckney was raised by a well-educated and wealthy family. He joined the militia during the Revolution. Although, he was later capture by the British and was paroled. Before practicing law, he became a wealthy slaved owner. His political career started when he served in the Continental Congress (1784-1787). Later on, he became the 37th governor of South Carolina. He signed the U.S constitution and contributed to the “Fugitive Slave” and “no religious test” clauses. Afterwards, he worked his way up to congress before dying in October 29, 1824.
