The mistakes parents make can affect the child’s life harder than they even imagine it could. Chris was a strange kid and had problems with his family. By strange I mean that who doesn’t communicate or have any type of relationship with their family. However, it didn’t stopped Chris McCandless from living his life doing what he wanted. Even though he made many mistakes, he was brave. He wanted to lived his life wild. McCandless was not prepared for the wilderness; however, Chris did not commit suicide accidentally. Chris made mistakes the same way anyone could have. He didn't take the time to search about the Stampede Trail in Alaska. However, that was a mistake Chris made; it wasn't him trying to die. For example, Jim Gallien mention “His gear seemed exceedingly minimal for the harsh conditions of the interior, which in April still lay buried under the winter snowpack” (Krakauer 5). He also mention that Alex had cheap leather hiking boots that weren’t waterproof nor well insulated. Chris had with him a .22 caliber, which was way too small to kill an animal like a moose or caribou. Not only that, but Chris didn’t have a map or compass that would have helped him. All he had was a tattered state road map he got at a gas station, which it wasn’t going to help him. Lastly, he probably would have been found and lived if only he had told someone where he was going. Someone would have worry about him and gone with help to find him. His family was worry, however, Chris didn’t have a good relationship with his family and for this reason he didn’t tell them about his plans. There wasn’t really anyone he would be interested in telling about his crazy idea of the wilderness.
In conclusion, Chris was a guy that loved to lived his life the way he wanted. He didn’t want to die and didn’t attempt to when he planned to go to Alaska. He just didn’t learned more about surviving there and he didn’t think about the weather conditions in
