All throughout history people have fought. All of these times fighting can be brought down to differences between the two groups of people. When the Europeans started moving westward they found the Native american peoples and because they were different most times these encounters ended up in fighting. This is exactly what happened during The Beaver War. Also known as the French and Iroquois War, this war was a series of battles fought between The Iroquois Confederacy (which consisted of Onondaga, Cayuga, Mohawk, Seneca, and Oneida tribes) and the French colonists and their allies in what is modern day Canada. It was fought in the area in the great lakes, and was a conflict fought primarily over the fur trade. The French had come to canada to trade fur with the Native Americans so they had allies with some of the tribes but this war was between two two fur trading monopolies. During the early to mid seventeenth century the tribes in the United states had either combined or had been killed off. This left the strong tribes such as the Iroquois to trade with. The war was always a one sided where one side was always winning. It was either the French who were winning or the Iroquois. When the Iroquois were fighting and attacking the French the French couldn't really fight back because they were just small town farmers. Then when the French sent their reinforcements the Iroquois had started to settle back down and this just was the stick that poked the sleeping bear. This whole ordeal happened because the Native Americans were trying to band together to assert their dominance over the Europeans who were taking their land and who were killing off the smaller tribes. The behavior of the natives can be attributed to the Europeans because the way the natives handled their situation is the same way the Europeans would have handled it in
