The story “Harrison Bergeron” was similar to 2081, a movie made based on the short story in the way that Harrison took off his handicaps. “Harrison tore the straps of his handicap harness like wet tissue paper, tore straps guaranteed to support five thousand pounds”(3). In the movie Harrison is shown doing the exact thing as the excerpt from the book described. It was essential to have this occur in both the story and movie because it shows Harrison gaining freedom to be his own person, and freedom from the government.
