The Lewis and Clark adventure was huge and was held with many people. Groups, families, and especially Lewis and Clark two of the most important people. The corps of discovery consists of about 40 people. It contains of one baby, one dog, including Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They all explored the lands required (acquired) in the Louisiana purchase which was farther west, which took place in the mid 1804 and 1805. The members of the corps were captioned as a captain, a lieutenant, corporal or a sergeant, known as the privates.
As they all prepared for the journey they (Lewis and CLark) started off in Virginia and finally led into Illinois. During the expedition Lewis and Clark drew about 140 maps which led them to where they were supposed to be. In this journey they explored miles in each location and found many things as well. They were gifted 2,500 dollars by Thomas Jefferson to complete the mission. The Americans , although short of needed supplies, were safe and arrived back at fort mandan without the needed meat, which was later retrieved.

Weather alone was terrible for them such as heavy winds and rains. As said Lewis had to constantly oil again and again because it was to much to handle at the time. They all fought with many mosquitoes flying in their faces right around the Missouri river. The choppy water would make the boat traveling very difficult along with the weather. There were also many wild animals they ran into, and hostile natives that got in the way. Illnesses from drinking the river water which was not fresh, lack of fruits and vegetables (always were on the search but never found anything), and last but not least the worries of falling, getting hurt such as breaking a limb or part of the body, or a gun accidentally going
