In the story lord of the flies the conch and specs are both huge symbols of different things. The conch represents order and civilization. The specs show sight and being able to see what's really happening. Both of these objects play big parts in the story and have underlying meanings.

First off, the conch is a symbol of orderly conduct. Whoever has the conch in their hand should be the only one able to talk. Even though the boy on the island break the conch rule later in the story, it was still a great device in the beginning.
